    "What size and type of target do you intend to shoot at? Paper Bullseye, Steel Gong, Cardboard Silhouette, etc..." -- Paper Bullseye, I am shooting 6" target at 100year

    "If you are going for hits and not a tight grouping, a red dot may be a better choice and you can add a magnifier later on" -- I have a couple low-power/cheap scope already. maybe add a red dot is a good idea

      Since no one has mentioned it, I will recommend Primary Arms! I have never used their scopes but the red dot optics work great and are plenty durable.

          Nikon P223 fixed 3x is an awesome little scope for $150.

            Nikon 4-12x40 ... Plenty of scope for 200 and beyond

              Not always, the 5x has double water proofing and as solid as they come! Same with the 3x
