    Help Choosing Precision Scope

    Good evening...

In the process of building a budget friendly 308 and am down to optics.

As an NRA Instructor I have the ability to purchase the following:

Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP Riflescope w/ EBR-2C Ret. (MOA, 1st Focal Plane) for $750 delivered, but just found out its on a 4-6 month back order.

    OR

Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR 3.5-21x50mm for $1100 delivered

Given the back order from Vortex (my original choice) I am now reconsidering all options. Trying to keep budget at $1100 max.

Would love to hear some thoughts and opinions.

    Thanks in advance!

Keep an eye on ARF and you'll probably find your PST much faster.

Have you checked out NF SHV 4-14x50 F1?

$1200 on midway. You might call NF and see if they'll give you discount? I know they do for mil/LEO.

This is a solid suggestion. I'd also take a look at the Burris XTR II series of scopes as well. Also, if you're an NRA instructor, you can get the Vortex discount through Promotive and you can get a Vortex Razor HD 5-25 for $1199. I'd take a look at that as well.

Glass on that is juicy too. Plenty of good reviews on that scope.

I'm in the same dilemma. A $1,000 budget but every thing I like is back ordered.

Here are some alternatives that are in stock and within your budget:

                    Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x

                    Zeiss Conquest HD5 5-25x

                    Accupoint 5-20x

                    Monarch 5 6-30x

Overall I think the Vortex is one of the best values for the price, especially at the discount you have available. I would go with the Razor 5-20x instead of waiting for the Viper PST or even the Bushnell (although that is a nice scope and probably one of the best priced for what it offers).

Look into Sightron SII & SIII Big Sky scopes. They get a lot of good reviews, without the big markup.

Was on that boat myself awhile back; went with the Burris XTR II and so have a few others that were asking the same question.

                            No regrets!

XTR II is a really solid series of scopes. Honestly I have a hard time recommending anything else for scopes in their price range.
