    Barra - any good?

I was trying to decide between a Vortex Viper PST FFP 6-24X50 and a Burris Veracity 5-25x50 for my bull barreled Tika when I came across this: http://barraoptics.com/barra-hero-6-...fle-scope.html . Barra is new and doesn't have a review anywhere that google can find. Barras are made in Japan and the 6-26x50 goes for $799 as opposed to the $950 the other two cost. Does anyone have any experience with Barra? Preference between the Viper and the Burris?

Buy one and make a review after using it enough to see if it fails and how well they stand up for service.

I "personally" would select something else............but you can save a dime and be daring
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

The Barra scopes lost me with "1/4 moa turrets and mil dot reticle". At that price range, there really isn't any excuse for having mis-matched turrets and reticle.

Between the PST 6-25X50 and the Veracity 5-25X50, it will come down to personal preference more than anything. The Burris will likely have better glass, being the same as that used in the XTRII series scopes. It also has slightly more internal adjustment range at 64 moa versus 50 for the PST. The Burris is only available with moa turrets/reticle, while the PST has the option of either mil or moa with matching reticles. The PST is also illuminated if that's something you need. The Veracity is not.

Being more comfortable with mil based scopes, I'd probably opt for the PST out of the two scopes, although I'm not really a fan of the limited adjustment range on it.

Another option worth looking at in the same price range is the new Sig Tango 4 6-24X50. Specs on them seem pretty decent, and they are assembled in the Philippines like the PST and Veracity scopes. I recently bought a 3-12X42 version of the Tango 4 and am pretty impressed by the overall construction and features of these scopes. I did however seem to get a lemon, as the scope had pretty bad fisheye distortion at lower magnification settings. I sent it back to Sig last week, so we'll see how their service department works out. Aside from the wonky distortion, I really liked the scope. Hopefully it's a defect and not a design flaw....

Thanks for the responses. I wasn't aware of the Tango. To tango or to dare...
