Good scope, get itComment

A red dot that zooms and can shoot out to 600 yards with an AR specific reticle and a bullet drop compensator?
Burris Tac30 seems to fit that bill perfectly. It is reviewed very highly and seems to be the go to optic for a lot of competitive shooters.
I have one on the way.Comment

Most one piece mounts won't have short enough ring spacing.
Go with a 2 piece setup like the P series rings.
That is a great first scope, I think Nikons are a great value.
A red dot is nice because of the illumination and you can shoot with both eyes open (unless you are cross eye dominant
)
A red dot with magnification would be a prismatic red dot...usually 3x or 5x
The nice thing about the etched reticle is that it is visible without illumination
I like the Vortex Spitfire 3x
or the Primary Arms 5x

I've mounted a few of those scopes at work. I do not believe there is a one piece riser made that will fit the scope. Where I work we carry the Nikon P-Series Scope Mount. It is a two piece riser and does work.Comment

The Mueller 1-4X24 Speed Shot might be worth a look:
