The Weaver fixed scopes are absolutely amazing. Sharp, clear, and bright. My affinity and experience is with the Weaver K series 6x fixed.

For comparison I had equally sized Zeiss Conquest 2x7x32mm and Nikon Monarch with huge 55mm bell and the Weaver absolutely was equally sharp, and surprisingly just as bright as the 55mm Nikon.

My conclusion was that perhaps because the Weavers are designed for a single magnification they are optimized for that magnification and hence remind me of Camera SLR's that when fitted with inexpensive Prime lens (fixed) they offer just amazing portraits pictures vs. many times more expensive variable lens.

I have a couple of these and they are the best budget scope you will come across. Nice solid turrets, easy to reset zero without tools, decent reticle, and great Nikon glass quality.

I have the Weaver on a Mini14 and a Mini30 and they work well.
BSA= Back Slowly Away and that is fact. I was given one of their top models and it took 4 times returning the scope at $10/time plus shipping to get one that has held up for 30 rounds on a heavy barreled Rem Varmint BDL in 223. Two of them were screwed up right out of the box and did not even try to mount them. Those jack-wads still insisted on the $10 and me pay shipping each time.

Get the Weaver..................heck even a Simmons............but never a BSA

Don't get a BSA. I'd go with the Weaver. IMO the Weaver has better glass than the Nikon P223 fixed 3X.

Cant say Ive ever seen a Weaver with better glass than any Nikon.

I sell scopes for a living and as such look through a lot of scopes. To my eyes, of the two scopes, the Weaver has better glass. If comparing a Weaver K series to a Monarch, the Monarch is better obviously, and the Veracity is better than the Monarch. Everyone's eyes are different. I did state it was my opinion not a proven fact. YMMV.

I like Weaver scopes... I would take one of their scopes over a BSA any day.

I know you are looking for a fixed power scope which is durable, but your though process of approaching BSA as an entry level optic doesn't guarantee you that.

A good quality variable can absolutely be more durable than a low end fixed. One of the only scopes that actually broke on me was a fixed power.

If you are comparing a variable of vs a fixed of equal quality, than I would absolutely tip my hat towards the fixed optic for having an edge on durability and optical performance since they are less lens elements and moving parts in the scope that needs to stay in perfect alignment.

For a rifle like that, the Weaver 1-3x would be pretty nice too... at 1x it can double as a fighting rifle.

Not trying to be argumentative but out in the fields the Nikons have been consistently more clear and bright than any of the Weavers I have used. Thats not to say the Weavers are bad and the Nikons are the best. But outside under unpleasant shooting conditions is a lot different than inside a store looking through some glass. Seems like I always see some blurry spots or haloing when using something less than a Nikon.

But like you say, its all relative and ymmv. Weaver makes a fine scope!

Everyone's eyes are different. If you think I only look at scopes inside the store then have another drink. I believe you see better out of Nikon than Weaver. I see better out of Weaver.

If you just want a fixed power at 3-4x, maybe you should just put on an ACOG. But if you want a traditional scope, in that market, it seems like Nikon is becoming almost standard.
