    Leapers tri-rail for m1a

hey guys recently picked up an springfield m1a... was lookin to mount a scope on it...i dont have the cash to put a $300 scope mount and read cheapos wont hold zero...and if i did get a good 1 i heard it might not fit due to factory tolerances at s.a. ....was lookin at this as a way to go...

Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more

has any one tried these??? maybe got a pic ....i wondering how solid it is and if the rail is to far forward for a standard style scope like a 3x9 or something non reddot... any help for a newbie

It has a 4 out of 5 rating on CTD, so I guess some people like it. You said so yourself that cheapos won't hold a zero. Trust me when I tell you this mount is a cheapo. I would save the money and buy a quality mount that will last as long as the rifle.

Take a look at these guys.

You bought a $2000 (post Obama prices) rifle and now want to put a cheap Chinese scope mount on it? Kind of like putting retreads on a Ferrari?

Hey, give it a try. If it works, you're good to go. If not, you can resell it for a relatively small loss - maybe $15 - and move on at a low cost.

Either way, you have actual data that you trust, and can pass it on to the rest of us.

There's actually decent quality Chinese gear out there at reasonable costs (as well as junk) - the UTG AR15 railed handguards get good reviews from people who own them - and the only way to find out is from people who have actually used it, or try it yourself.

Look on ARFcom or M14forum for lightly used scope mounts. Don't go cheap on a $2000 rifle.

You should be checking out SEI, ARMS, or Sadlak instead of mounts from the CTD catalog.

Fulton has the Super Scout rail, might want to check them out if you haven't already.

The problem is that for an M1A there is no easy way to mount stuff. If you are looking for an over the receiver mount, one (crappy) option is the mount from Springfield Armory. Some report it'll hold zero; for others it won't. You were warned. Try reading at www.m14tfl.com for more ideas and info.

My advice to you is don't scope it, at least for now. You picked an expensive rifle to scope. Between the mount and rings you are looking at $300, or somewhere around there. Then add in $$$ for the scope. Luckily, the iron sights are pretty damned good.

Failing that, look into the Aluminum mounts from Sadlak:

Here are pics of my M1A Scout with a steel Sadlak mount and a Trijicon Accupoint:

Glad to hear it. ARMS is good, as are the SEI and Sadlak mounts.

If you're planning on using an Aimpoint, you should get an Ultimak rail as it allows cowitness of the irons.

If you're planning to use a scope, the ARMS is better.

The rail system you showed would require a rear mount from KAC or Sage.

I have the real version of the one that copies and it works well.
