Another Eotech bites the dust - I'm 0 for 3

Sigh. Yet another Eotech has gone down due to delamination. Of the last 3 Eotechs I've owned, each and every one has eventually suffered from the same problem.

If you're not familiar with it, here's a vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJixnTTKgiM

The first unit, an EXPS2-0, was sent back for repairs and returned to me in full working order. I ended up selling it with a rifle in a package deal.

The second unit, another EXPS2-0, was sent back for repairs and returned to me, but it still suffered from the issue slightly. Because they never got it fully fixed, I sent it back for a refund earlier this year.

The last unit, an EXPS3-0, was working fine the last time I used it, which was maybe 6 months ago. At that point, it was stored in the factory clamshell box in my garage and left untouched until now. The unit was manufactured Jan 2104. I purchased it July 2014. It never saw any hard use and spent most of its time in the box.

    The point of this thread?
If any of you have Eotechs that have been sitting for a few months, it would be a good idea to check them to make sure they haven't suffered the same fate as mine.

Fortunately for me, Eotech is still accepting returns and issuing refunds. If/when they stop the program, I have no doubt they'd be willing to repair the problem. But at this point, with what I've experienced, why would I even want another Eotech?

Ya i had a XPS3-0 that got super dim (manufactured in nov 2009). Was fine at first but up until this past year I could barley see the reticle outside in the day time even on the brightest setting, just super dim. Got it fixed for free no questions asked even though warranty expired years ago, turn around time was only about a week and they upgraded some parts too upon return and it was super nice and crisp looking. Used it once or twice afterwards and put it in my gun safe. A few months later i pulled it out and turned it on and the reticle was all grainy, dotted, and s****y looking....I ended up sending it back for the refund thing going on.

It sucks, I really like eotechs too, but the new ones seem like they are all lemons. I wonder if they are using cheaper materials to cut costs? All the old school ones I've had have been dead reliable.

Same here. I've had some old Eotech's over the years and they never had any problems.

I even bought one of those used Lawgun's 553 units. It was already 6 years old by the time I got it and it was beat to hell. But it functioned flawlessly.

All my problems began when they launched the "EXPS" line.

Have they offered any explanation as to what happened to their quality standards?

From their website, units prior to July 2014 could suffer from moisture incursion and cause reticle fade.
