What rifle platform do you plan to mount it on?

I have the Vortex PST 1-4 mounted to my Daniel Defense M4V1 (5.56).
I'm not sure about the trijicon but the Vortex is reliable and the warranty policy is great.

That's actually a tough one, because I really like both of those optics.

The right answer is buy both, because they both do a good job in their own respect.

If you personally enjoy or do more fast heads up action shooting... moving, running and gunning, or really dynamic close up work, then the RDS is the obvious choice.

Its not that the 1-4x cant do it, its just not as ideal, and the optic isn't really daylight visible like an RDS generally is...

That said, the 1-4 is a VERY versatile optic. I have a few different low power variables, its one of my favorite class of scopes. If your range time consists of mostly target shooting but still want some flexibility for CQB style shooting then the 1-4x is great. I really enjoy the uncapped target turrets because it makes shooting steel at much longer distances easier and more consistent than holding over.

Really just comes down to how to intend on using it...

Yeah I'm looking at only one optic, cant afford more. So I'm assuming with the vortex it will generally cover more bases. Also, the 1x power can be jist as fast IMO, just a matter of training.

As usual, someone will throw out another option instead of answering your question, let that person be me!

I recommend the vortex strike eagle. Save a couple bucks and the reticle is great for both CQB at 1x and BDC under magnification.
