      You can compare that to any load you shoot to see where it would be... Even if a 400 yard marker (in this case, 7.5 MOA) was good for one load, it might just mean that's a 515 yard marker for a different load... it really doesn't matter as long as you know what that measurement is in MOA or MRAD. That said, I just like working with standard mil scale or moa scaled reticles so I don't have to remember non-standard graduations.

      Thats the same NON standard reticle in the crossfire.

      After taking the time to learn angular units of measure....moa and mil, then learning how to covert back and forth.......that reticle sucks bad.

      Trying to remember what non standard unit each mark is and it is not even in whole numbers......I decided to not even try to remember/learn it....it is a step backwards and a waste of time.


      Mil marks, even numbers. in the reticle and either moa or mil turrets, with mil turrets being slightly easier.........


      I like the cristmas tree reticle since I can get a exact come up on my scope to use the turrets to get on cross hair..........it is hard at 1000 yards to say I was 10 inches or 36 inches low by eye in a fast manner.

      Every situation is different, but for me shooting at different ranges and changing often it works quickly.........for range work I would rather adjust to a known dope quickly, let the first shot fly, see where it hits and make the turret adjustments and keep shooting, rather than some long dope calculation to get a first round hit.

      As a us lazy people call it...A sighter shot.


      From my limited experiance the only acceptable reticle for some one who plans on learning angular units of measure is a mil reticle......


      For example, I know at 600 ards at 60 degrees in my set up I need 7 moa or approx 1.9 mils, it is 80 degrees today, about one moa higher impact for 20 degree rise in temp.......which is 6 inches at 600 yards, I add that to my 7 moa which is quick and easy 8 moa or add it in mils.

      Let my shot fly......I make a hit or see exactly how low or high measured in the scope.....say it is half a mil low, add half a mil and let the second shot fly........all done quickly and easily.

      I could sit there and calc it all out for a few minutes from scratch, but for my application it is not needed.......


      Without a reticle measured in standard even units it becomes more math than is needed.....

      Once I get a good load developed for my rifle, where I am not switching ammo and loads all the time it will even easier to get first round hits......and a mil based reticle will give you usable info.

      That reticle pictured above is horrible in my application......

      Now this is based off of a semi auto platform where quick second round hits are desirable........and changing yardage quickly. Probably not the best system for a bolt gun ......but it works for me on this platform, for this application for me.

      But why learn a non standard reticle and system, when it is much easier to learn a standard system which will cross over to everything and you can comunicate it to others....quickly.


      It is such a personal thing on scopes........but it seems to me a standard mil or moa in even numbers is the best....no mattern what pattern in the reticle it may have, with mil based being the most functionable.
