Rail Covers

Hi guys/gals,

I'm looking for some simple "rail covers" for my AR-15 and wanted to know what is considered to be the best in your opinions.

I bought some from one of the shows and they appear to be too small. Is there only one size available or is there others in different sizes? My pica tinny rails I had thought were of a standard size?

Can you recommend a brand that I can consider?

The rubber rail ladders that FMJBT posted are the best option if you don't want to add any bulk to your rail. I also like the Larue index clips.

After a while you will get tired of them too, I found having a quad rail completely covered with railcovers a bit too bulky and uncomfortable.

I prefer a tubed hand guard or something with a top section of rail only. You might want to weight your options with that too.

I'm all about these guys lately, being a fan of rubbery grips (like Hogue pistol grips). But at the same time, I've been getting away from the rails-everywhere thing lately, mostly for weight savings, and going with a lot of M-LOK handguards.

My most recent purchase was a DD 14.5" pinned w the DD AR15 Literail (Quad rail)- it just seems a bit bulky for my liking. I don't mind the weight, but just a bit too thick- thinking of maybe switching it out for something just a tad slimmer.

What do you guys prefer? The Keymod rail on my DDV11 upper is super light and super slim, almost too slim- makes it feel like I'm holding a pencil- I like a little bit of girth on my rail to hold onto- but thinking of buying a less bulky rail for my DD w Quad Rail. I think the DD Lightweight Rail 2 and RIS II are a tad slimmer since they're updated versions of the DD Literail, maybe I'll swap for one of those- but the price to buy one of those to switch is high. .

I just like the feeling of being able to grab my AR and shoulder quickly as possible and the DD Literail/Quad Rail is a bit thick for my liking. I think the Literail II and RIS II are a bit slimmer, but don't feel like forking out hundreds of dollars for this rig as it's my back up to my back up, etc AR- doesn't see a lot of use.

Still, I think I'll keep my eyes open to what's out there- something still w girth to hold onto but not too bulky. In the past I have liked the feel of the DD Omega rail.
