    Keymod rails

Is keymod really dead? I find that keymod accessories can be expensive but I like the keymod look. I prefer the keymod rails over quad rails any day because I can grasp them due to average size hands.

Those two are contradictory. Usually, when something is dead it's cheaper as vendors try to dump "dead" stuff/inventory.
And no, its not dead M-lock is not any better.

BCM is still producing the KMR so i'd say no, it isn't dead. For my taste, quad rails are just too clunky.

Look at Fortis. They do a picatinny @ 12 and 6 and keymod @ 3 and 9. So it's narrow to grab & lighter BUT you don't have to buy into keymod accessories. Best if both worlds. That's what I did.

How so? Most that like Keymod don't like rail @ 6 as you need cover them so not to cut up your hand.
The whole purpose for Keymod is to eliminate unnecessary rails. With many Keymod accessories, full rails aren't needed at all.

              How so? Here's a recap:

Like I said... I get (1) lighter weight (2) less bulk for smaller hands (3) but I get to keep using all my picatinny items & not buy into $$$ keymod accessories. It's really easy to understand.

Is it a millennial thing to ask if things are dead because they haven't been talked about for a week?

Heard the same thing about the MSR reticle recently.

                Ridiculous.

Yes keymod is here to stay as is m-lok as is picatinny.

Hell even Weaver is still around.

I understand it alright, just as I understand 4 or 6 cylinder Mustang owners.

Glad you like this niche idea/product.

No, it has higher oxygen content but no one here smokes so it's not a problem. Third station is offline but it's been that way for a while, it was back up purifier/mixer anyway.

Only thing hurting keymod is ****ty accessories made by crappy companies. Also the BCM KMR (magnesium) is having people question keymod as people have found it bending and deforming. The Alpha may be a solution to that.

Example would be Noveske and their pic rail. Not including a recoil lug behind every nut is no bueno.

My question and concern came from different reviews on different websites such as palmettostatearmory.com. Your assumption about my generation is correct but I'm not the typical millenial who follows meaningless trends, I'm just curios to find out information.

To the other responses, I appreciate your input and information. I think I'll stick to picatinny raithe attachments instead of buying into those expensive keymod accessories. I like having the option of adding rails if needed but the freedom of grasping the rail without cutting up my hands during quick movements.

A lot of companies are using Keymod so no it's not dead. The competition is Mlok which is a fairly new standard created by Magpul. I'd say you can go with either one and find tons of accessories for them.

My primary rifles have Keymod, but I also have one with Mlok that I'm trying out. Some hard core guys think Mlok is mechanically better, but others think that Keymod has some advantages.

I'd say find the rail you like and get it in either one. Oh, and one of the reasons some companies are going with Mlok is because they are easier to machine and they have Magpul behind them, but that doesn't mean they are better for everyone.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.
