Any one had any experience with this scope?

I was looking to an inexpensive scope for a .22 rifle I have and saw this one on ebay:

    SIMMONS 22 MAG 4X32 RIMFIRE RIFLE SCOPE BLACK W/ RINGS TRU-PLEX 511022

We've seen a lot of them at Appleseed. They work pretty much as advertised. Glass isn't awesome and clicks tend to be mushy, but for the $50 or so they're asking, it's decent. Good companion to a starter rifle like a Marlin 795 or Ruger 10/22.

Ask me about Appleseed! Send a PM or see me in the Appleseed subforum.

      Not that specific model.

I have a Simmons 4x32 Pro Hunter pistol scope. I like it a lot. For the money it is very clear. Better than Chinese made scopes. Mine is made in Korea.

If it actually holds zero, it will be worth the money.

My 10/22 has a bull barrel and no iron sights. Mainly it has a 4.5-14 on it, but when I want to practice shooting with a sling like Appleseed, I use this scope. It works fairly well for what it is, and have no real complaints. I was able to buy it for $20 new, so you can't really go wrong. The rings are absolutely worthless and can't even fit on picatinny slots though, so I wouldn't count on using them

We have two .22 mag 3-9s mounted on 10-22s. Have used them for years with no issues until recently. Found that one has a broken retical wire. I have no idea how that happened. It will go back for warranty work, but it will be used as a backup, or maybe I'll even sell both, when it returns.

Haven't used it personally, but for the price point Simmons seems to do well.

For that particular model, we have 30 customer reviews averaging 4.5 stars out of 5 (22 5-star and 8 4-star reviews)

I prefer Simmons over BSA and similar price point options

I had one on my Glenfield Model 60. Better than the $5 scope it came with for sure, but not great. Eye relief zone is small. Took it off and gave it to a friend. For a starter gun, it would be a good choice.

Me and my shooting buddy both run those on our .22's (mine is an old Hawthorne Warrior) and they have served us well for the price. With the light recoil on .22's the scope does not have to perform miracles and serves its purpose just fine. If you like to play with .22 out at distances beyond 100 yards, a more measurement friendly reticle may be in order but most people don't shoot them that far. Great entry level scope, but would want something more versatile like a Burris MSR on a future rifle purchase.

They work. I have used one. They are not a Nightforce but also not a costly scope.
