Problems with leupold rings

I just mounted some leupold STD rings on my Model 70 and I can't get it to even bore site. I have a Nikon Buckmaster 3 x 9 and its adjusted as far as it will go but is still way off. The cross hairs are more than 2 feet above the bore site target. The leupold rings are way wider apart than the weaver style I had on before. The front ring is against the bell and the rear ring is against the magnification ring. This may be whats causing the problem, but I don't know.

Is this a one piece base? Some two piece bases can be reversed.

Two piece, I 'll take a look and see if it can be reversed. Thanks Trapper.

Also...try swapping rings front to rear.
