Id make Amazon ship you a new one. If that fails, which i doubt, contact Vortex. Either way you are covered. Please let us know how it turns out.

Vortex appears to have a great warranty...

I may end up using it on a red dot I bought used.

Could've been a returned unit to Amazon

Vortex will definitely take care of you if Amazon doesn't.

Vortex replied first thing on the first business day and said they are sending me a prepaid return label and will send me out a new one.
              Nice!

Great customer service from Vortex but still disappointing QC; here is their response:
We received your scope today and I opened multiple brand new Venom scopes with the same issue.
I found one that is better than the one you sent in to us but it is not perfect. I can send that one to you.

                And a followup:
It seems they are using a tool to either put the screws in or check the functionality that is causing this.
I am going to send your photo to our person in charge of the factories and get it changed.

                Sorry about that.

We'll see what they send me back.

Looks like they're using a chisel and hammer. Someone get them a properly ground flathead screw driver. Good God

                      Replacement arrived today.
Looks MUCH better than the first one but still not perfect.
                      Good enough for me though.

Quick question. What upgrades did you put in your sp01?

                          Internal polish/deburr
                          Cajun Gun Works SAO trigger
                          CGW Race hammer
                          CGW 10x barrel bushing
                          CGW SS FLGR
Dawson FO front sight (now obviated )

Obviously cerakoted lower and Thai rosewood grips (jury still out on those).

I'm shopping, and considering a Venom. I haven't heard any reports on reliability. Looking for an alternative to a $600 RMR. What's your experience so far? Do you have any reports from others? Mine would go on a 10mm, and/or a 9mm if I get it milled.

Ruby there was a promotion a couple weeks ago for free burris fast fire 3s. I'd say they're just as good as the vortex equivalent and both have life time warranties. Rmr is on a different level.
