Couldn't tell you anything about the MTAC(the xtr ii is great). I know there's a lot of people that have bought them, might want to simply give it more than a day as the optic forum doesn't get anywhere near as much traffic as the other sections.

I ran its close cousin, the TAC30, for years. It's a great budget scope with good glass and a usable, daylight visible reticle. Some people don't like the huge circle since it's pretty busy.
In its price range, it probably makes more sense to get the Vortex SE or Primary Arms 1-6x since you always have the option of extra magnification without adding too much weight.

I also ran a tac30, which is very similar to the mtac. Good glass quality and i liked the simplicity of its bdc. I ran it on an m1a and an ar and it worked just fine. Overall I am very pleased with it.

I like my MTAC. Works very well. Clear for the price. Seems robust enough.
Use it on my mid-range AR.

I have several Burris scopes on my rifles. I think they are very good scopes . Never had any trouble with any of them which is more than I can say about Bushnell or Nikon. Been buying Vortex lately and like them.

For me the Fullfield II 2-7 and 3-9 are the best scopes in their price range, I really like them. My son is well pleased with the TAC30/FastFire combo on his AR.

I've only heard positive things about the XTR II series and I've been eyeballing the 8-40x50 as a possible scope for a Ruger Precision.

                    The reticle is pretty different:

GW - You will probably find more input over on 24 hour campfire forums. I've had a few of them and never any problems. In fact my two main big game rifles are both sporting Burris scopes now.

I have a MTAC, and for about 5 minutes bought Bushnell's AR 1-4 scope (which sucked btw)

A couple things about the MTAC line.

The TAC30 is Chinese made (least quality but still good reviews)

Next up is the MTAC (Philippine made - good quality) - I have this one and it is actually a pretty nice scope. I also have SWFA HD 1-4 which is about 3 times the price, and though better, I have complete confidence in the robust nature and optical quality of the MTAC

The XTR uses Japanese glass, and is quite a bit better than other options.

                        Last,

Burris has a no questions asked lifetime warranty that Bushnell certainly does not have, nor honor. This says much about the company and their view of their products, and further, the importance of maintaining a happy customer base.

So, for the right price, Burris are great. Kind of a big reticle, I agree, but for hunting varmint ('yote etc.) it is fine.

Have a Burris Fullfield II 3-9 with their Ballistic Plex Reticle on my AR15. Nice clear glass and the reticle makes accurate shots out to 500 yards effortless when paired with a Laser Rangefinder.

Just had my first experience with Burris Customer service. All I needed was a physical store that would have or could get an XTR II 1.5-8. Apparently no one will bring it in even on a special order. I was directed to online vendors. I wanted to compare to other optic options in person without the hassle of shipping back and forth and RMA's etc. The CSR was absolutely no help and did not even offer to help find a dealer in NorCal somewhere that would at least special order the scope.

If this is the type of pre-sales support they provide I a can only imagine the lack of support when there is a problem with a product. I would suggest a pass on Burris until they improve their desire to provide adequate service.
