    Scope Suggestions?

I was lucky enough to be gifted a Browning X-Bolt (.308) by my dad.
This is my first rifle and I have no idea where to start in shopping for a sight. He has the same rifle and put a Leupold Mark 4 that he paid ~$1800 for. I can't afford or justify this much for myself.

I will be primarily using this at ranges 100yd or less, with an occasional trip to BLM land for longer range. I'm not likely to be shooting more than 100 rds per trip and not more often than once per month.

What are your opinions on good optics for my use with a price range of $600-$1000? Thanks for your time.

Do you need zero stop? Capped or exposed turrets? mil/moa? Illumination? Mil/Moa marks on the crosshair? Tons of questions.

For 100yds, you don't need scope. Work it like a Safari rifle.

Get a Nikon or Leupold. You can get really decent ones for $300-400. 3x9x40 will do just fine.

          Your given rages

          3x

Leupold's 3X line of scopes has returned with the FX II 3x20, an optic that's designed with one purpose in mind: hunting dangerous game.

What are you going to use the scope for? If hunting and range trips at those relatively short ranges go to Natchezz and get a Leupold VX-3 on closeout pricing.

People are giving you advise on certain scopes. Everyone's eyes are different and you will see better through certain brands of scopes than others. Go to a retailer with a large selection and look through a bunch. Let your eyes make the decision and ignore everyone else's advice.

3-9 or 2-7 sounds good though.
