Was on the same boat last week; went with a Burris XTR 3-15x50.
I also had the NF SHV and Viper on my list and quite frankly, the Viper is on a whole different league (downgrade).Originally posted by longrange1my gun shoots better with shiny brass...plus not only does the shiny brass make me look like a pimp at the range if the sun catches it just right it blinds the guy next to me which improves my odds of winning the match.Originally posted by XDJYoFull size. me too.
I was in exactly the same boat as you both of you.
I ended up going with the Burris XTR 2 5-25x50Comment

are you military (active or retired), LEO, Sate licensed para-medic or EMT, Fire fighter (including volunteer), DA or Deputy District Attorney, Correction Officer (including Parole and Probation Officers) by any chance?Debating between these two optics. Which one should I choose? Both are FFP, the only difference I can really spot is the eye relief (Vortex is more generous at ~4 inches vs ~3 inches of NF).
This is going to be on my varmint rifle (AR), leaning towards NF...because well.. it's NF lol...
Any other scopes I should look at within the same price point? (1.2k)
Thanks!Comment

That also looks really good as well... although I think it might be an overkill for a .223/.556 lol

The general consensus on various forums state the Viper PST as being overpriced in terms of glass quality. You get a lot of features but for a little bit more, you can get better glass (with a different brand).
Not my words, just what I've come to learn and read since last year when I first considered getting a Viper scope.Originally posted by longrange1my gun shoots better with shiny brass...plus not only does the shiny brass make me look like a pimp at the range if the sun catches it just right it blinds the guy next to me which improves my odds of winning the match.Originally posted by XDJYoFull size. I have a feeling you would have a hard time telling the difference between the PST and the Burris XTRII glass, the 34mm tube on the Burris XTRII may help a little. The Burris does have a true 0-Stop turret, should have more elevation due to the 34mm tube, and the Burris has a slightly bigger rear ocular lens. The PST 6-24x50mm FFP MAP is $949.00 the Burris XTRII 5-25x50mm SCR is $1249.00. For $300 (24%) more it should be better. The Vortex for the price is a great scope.
The Nightforce SHV 4-14x50mm has very good glass and the elevation turret is rock solid. Yes, it has better glass than the Burris XTRII and they have the same MAP price.Dealer for Zero Compromise Optic, Tangent Theta, Leupold, Nightforce, Vortex, Aimpoint, Desert Tech, Swarovski and more...
