Stupid Newbie Question

I am a new owner and I was looking at a lazer for my two pistols. Its a basic inexpensive lazer. It states that it universally fits any 'CMR-201' rail size. I did a cursory search for this ... is there a standard size for a picatinny rail, is this CMR-201 the standard size, etc. Granted the google search I did was small I did not dig very deeply but I am not seeing this 'CMR-201' mentioned anywhere. I looked for a 'rail basics' thread here as well and I am not finding it.

Can anyone point me somewhere where I can read up on rail types?

Now days its pretty universal. The way it butts up against your trigger guard is what matters and that it doesn't protrude past the barrel in my opinion.
