Don't even know what brand the scope is? Oh boy...

First, figure out what the diameter of the tube is. Might be easier to just measure the mount. Should be 1" or 30mm. Then buy the appropriate diameter mount that has enough forward extension for you. Since I wouldn't want to suggest a $200 mount for an unknown optic, as long as you don't care about QD(and it doesn't look like you have a reason to), I'd suggest http://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/scope-mounts.html

Carefully looked around the scope and it was hidden under the lens cap.

The brand is Schoenfeld, and its an 8-32 and I believe it's 50mm.. Same as the one pictured here: http://www.armslist.com/posts/320174...223-with-scope

Right, but you need the tube diameter, not the objective lens diameter. In this diagram, it would be "J"

Yes, they make cantilever mounts for the AR that do exactly that.

Larue is the way to go. Either the SPR, SPR-S, SPR-LE just depends how far forward you need it. I suspect the regular SPR should be okay.

Once you raise that scope you can use that fancy cheek riser! Bonus
