Bushnell Elite tactical vs Elite 6500. Which is better?

I am in the market to buy a bushnell scope and I wanted to know which line is better in a general sense. I am currently looking at the Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50mm Rifle Scope with the G2DMR reticle. I am a little confused because on Optics Planet they say its illuminated but I cant find anywhere that says the G2DMR reticle is illuminated. What do you guys think??

G2 reticle is not available with illumination.

G2DMR is probably my favorite reticle design for long range shooting. Unfortunately though, it isn't offered with illumination in any of the Bushnell scopes. Have you looked at the 3-12X44 version of the Elite Tactical? I actually prefer the lower magnification version because the entire reticle is visible at max magnification. The 3-12X also has more internal adjustment compared to the 6-24X with 80moa (3-12X) vs 50 (6-24X) if I remember right.

Okay, thanks for the info. I have some research to do still to see what is going to work best for me. The fact that the reticle does partially disappear with the higher magnification is one thing I kind of don't like..

What kind of rifle is this scope going onto? For a long range precision rifle I suggest you take a look at the ERS 3.5-21x. While it doesn't have an illuminted reticle, it does have a zero stop and the reticle is first focal plane, if those features are important to you. You might also want to take a look at the Burris XTR II line of scopes.

I second the ERS Bushnell 3.5-21. One its built like a tank and is a 34mm tube not a 30mm. The glass is clear and for the price its hard to beat. I have 2 one on a .308 and the other on a .300 win mag and looking to buy another. Spend the extra money and go the 3.5-21 you wont regret it.

The ERS is a little out of my price range. I was looking at the Bushnell Elite Tactical 3.5-21x50 HDMR Riflescope with the horus reticle. Any take on that one??

as for the rifle I am putting this on its a mosin nagant build but the scope will only be on there temporarily. I will be mounting this on a 308 build.

The HDMR is a really good scope, especially if you can find it on sale or clearance. Regarding the Bushnell vs Burris XTR II scopes, I think the Burris are superior in pretty much every regard except reticle selection. The XTR II glass is about on par if not slightly better than the glass on the 3.5-21X50 Bushnell scopes, and is significantly better than the glass found on the 30mm tube Elite Tactical scopes like the 3-12X44 and 6-24X50. Not that the glass on the 30mm Bushnell's is bad, it isn't. The glass on the XTR II scopes is just really, really good, especially considering their price point. In addition to excellent glass, they also have really nice turrets and a rock solid zero-stop setup that works flawlessly and is really easy to set up. For a 308, I'd look into the 2-10X42 or 3-15X50 versions of the XTR II, preferably with the SCR reticle instead of the Gen 2 mil dot. I've found that the mil dot reticle of these scopes tends to be a bit thick and can obscure smaller targets.

Thank you so much for all this info. It helps me allot in making my choice. I want to make sure I get the right scope if I am going to spend over a grand.
