While I'd love to have a true Trijicon ACOG scope for my M&P 15, I don't want to shell out $1200+ to get one. This "BD Tactical" deal on Amazon costs a tenth of the price and has decent reviews. Anyone have any experience here with this scope, or can you suggest something comparable?

Who makes the best bootleg ACOG?

ACOG doesn't cost a lot because of the way it looks...
If you want decent optics, you simply won't find them cheap. It really is that cut & dry.

I have a Trijicon ACOG (M16A4 model) and love it.
However, If I didn't want to spend the money for an ACOG and still want weapons grade ACOG performance similar to ACOG.
I'd consider this: http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-a...le/p/kt-pac5x/
Or this: http://www.atibalsights.com/products...iant=779820997
Edge goes to the Primary Arms for their patented ACSS reticle. Even Trijicon uses it on their latest ACOG models under license.Constitutionally, officials cannot license or register a fundamental right.

Sold two of my Acogs recently; one for $850 the other for $800.
Look around and wait a bit and get yourself the real deal.
Btw, I too have an M&P and it wears an Acog; nothing wrong with having glass that costs more than the rifle. In fact, that's the norm in most cases!Originally posted by longrange1my gun shoots better with shiny brass...plus not only does the shiny brass make me look like a pimp at the range if the sun catches it just right it blinds the guy next to me which improves my odds of winning the match.Originally posted by XDJYoFull size. I thought Primary Arms just ordered enough for a custom run and you can only buy that model from their website. Not knocking it, but it's a big difference, like how Brownells had a custom run of "zombie reticule" eotechs.I have a Trijicon ACOG (M16A4 model) and love it.

Just wait for Trijicon to get sued by the gubbermint - then it's not the hawt damn thing everyone said it was
In the mean time - its operator status and non-operators need an operator-like status sight... So... Carry-on

Why don't more people just use tried and true optics.
$1200 buys one a lot of Leupold, Zeiss, or even Nikon scope.
99.99% of these tactical scopes will never see a tactical situation.
You would have a very tough time making an argument that the Trijicon glass is superior to Nikon, Leupold, or Zeiss glass.Last edited by BradeRunner; 01-03-2016, 9:56 AM.Comment

Thanks. I had incorrectly presumed that it was licensed since that's usually how patents work. Good move by Primary Arms to use their technology in the ACOG.Constitutionally, officials cannot license or register a fundamental right.

Check aisle 3 next to the unicorns. I sell ACOG's but can't afford one. I've shot numerous AR's mounted with them mounted and of course handle them all of the time. There is a reason they cost what they do and there is no way you will get anything remotely as good for a tenth less. While I'd love to have a true Trijicon ACOG scope for my M&P 15, I don't want to shell out $1200+ to get one. I helped two friends sight in rifles yesterday. They guy on our left was shooting what looked like a custom AR in .308 and later I confirmed that it was. Very nice piece of equipment. There was a seriously badass looking scope sitting on top of it.
As we were leaving he asked me to spot a few shots for him because he wasn't hitting paper. This was at 100 yards. He fired three rounds and I couldn't see any hits with my spotting scope. He then asked me to shoot and he would spot. The rifle had a great trigger. The scope was a 5-25x50 and an absolute POS. The most critical eye relief I've ever seen and hazy glass. Don't know what brand of scope it was because there were no markings on it. I asked him where he was hitting paper at 25 yards. He responded that he had boresighted it and gone straight to 100 yards. Asked to see his boresighter and where he had purchased it - Amazon for $10.00. Offered to mechanically zero his scope and boresight it for him and recommended he start over at 25 yards. He declined and went back to shooting.
A couple of weeks ago a man came in to the store and asked for a scope that was great in low light and good out to 500 yards - for $100.00 or less.

If you don't have the budget for an ACOG, I suggest you shell out just a tad more and get a Vortex Spitfire 3x
instead, if you can live with just a touch less magnification. These can be found for under $300 on Amazon.NRA Benefactor Life Member

I haven't seen any Nikon that compares to my Trijicon glass, whether it be my TA 11, or my accupoints. Why don't more people just use tried and true optics.

I have a few different levels of Leupold, from vx2 to mk4 and the trijicon's are every bit as good of glass.
Zeiss makes pretty good stuff, but it isn't a Swarovski that is for sure.
PS, trijicon is tried and true.sigpic
