Aimpoint Comp M4S - AA Battery Leaking

Given the M4S long battery life and the suggestion that the M4S be kept on all the time for readiness, is there an issue of the AA battery leaking?

I've had a few devices (flashlights, radios etc) that use AA batteries and usually the batteries leak acid if kept in the device long term.

It is a problem. I took my batteries out when not in use. I know that doesn't help your readiness situation. Otherwise you need to check them religiously probably once a month and replace them at the first sign of leakage. I can't tell you how many devices have been ruined because of this.

Use lithium AA's and don't look back...

Oh yeah, when modern alkaline batteries leak, use a mild acid - like vinegar to clean up the mess. Save the baking soda solution for cleaning up SLA batteries.

Don't use akalines, use Eneloops or Lithium AA's and you can drastically reduce the chances of leaking.

If you use a lithium and just change it every year or 2, that's the safest bet at preventing leaks.
