    how can you tell the difference between a real knights armament rail system and a fake airsoft knockoff?

    It can be very hard unless you have the two side by side, or good pics of an original to compare to. The best way to avoid getting ripped off is to buy from a known seller with a good reputation.

    If you have one you'd like to find out about, I'd take pics and post them here and at ar15.com.

        The KAC copies/lookalikes tend to be pretty poor quality, according to user reports.

        For an inexpensive non-FF quad rail, the best bet is the UTG. It's not a copy of anybody's design, and gets good reviews by the people who actually use them.

        Carbine and midlength run about $60, and rifle length about $70, with rail covers:
