For whatever reason I have decided to invest in an acog TA-31.My purpose is a light rifle for 3gun and carbine classes.Probably not the best choice for 200 and under but i like the known quality and simplicity. My shooting will be timed shots from 150 to 7 yards. My question is which reticle would you experienced guys recomend.

acog reticle

I prefer the horseshoe reticle. Each portion of it designed to range you quickly.
It's very similar in that respect to the chevron, but I found for myself, that with the chevron, i'd keep trying to put the target at the time of the chevron, which defeats the purpose of an ACOG... that purpose being "speed".
I feel like the horseshoe is the fastest reticle for me... probably more psychological than anything.
I am def not a fan of the donut reticle. -
TA31F because a point is finite. JMO. Acogs 4 lyfe.Comment

Have both and agree with HK Dave, the Horseshoe is my preferred and the fastest, but the chevron is great for determined accuracy.Comment

Actually, the chevron is the least accurate because it is not symmetrical. It expands with increasing light and the aiming point moves.
You want a symmetrical reticle. I like the crosshairs. Like the horseshoe, if the reticle blooms, the aiming point is fixed because it is the center.Comment

Chevron for more accurate on the movement (combat setting)... I actually went to their school (acog armour), but that was long time ago.Comment

Honestly, I prefer chevron because I can adjust lot faster on multiple distance target or enemy....
If you want to snipe, I prefer actual sniper purpose optics like scope, but that's just me.Comment

Hummm.. op
Are you going to be shooting under 200 yards??
I think Acog is little over kill for 200 yards under for those with good eye sight...
But if you got the money go for it.Comment

More sight picture. Acts like a red dot for fast shooting. And is small enough not to blot out your far off targets.

In our studies we found that a horse shoe is faster and chevron is more accurate. We combines both superior attributes.

Simple, easy, cheap solution to that issue: slap a piece of duct tape over the fiber optic tube on the top of the scope.Actually, the chevron is the least accurate because it is not symmetrical. It expands with increasing light and the aiming point moves.

Are you sure you're not thinking "donut reticle"? The Horseshoe center dot is 2moa... you'd have to be shooting at something tiny for that to blot out the targets.Originally posted by InsanePropaneChevron > horseshoe.
