I had one and it was a good scope. Pretty darn good for the price. BUT, it doesnt have a lot of eye relief. I would check SWFA and find something with less bells and whistles and more eye relief. Depending on what your doing with it I would look at

    Or

Dont go any cheaper than that unless you have a good reason.

I have one for sale if you're interested.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

I have its little brother, the 4-16x50 Sport Dot. It's a decent scope for the money, but I'd agree with Splinter. I'd either look for fewer features or spend more money.

Mine has finicky eye relief, and at the higher zooms, it gets pretty dark and eye relief gets really tight. The illumination is strictly for low light - it's not daytime usable. Also, I'd be concerned about a Mueller on a 30-06 - they don't have the greatest reputation for holding up under heavy recoil.

Mine broke a while back - the objective lens started rattling around - and they gave me a new one. It cost about $23 for shipping and handling, and you need the original receipt, which I was lucky to have, since I bought mine used.

Dunno what your budget is, but Nikon Buckmasters are good value scopes. If you need the higher mags, you can get a 6-18x40 refurbished Buckmaster from SWFA's www.samplelist.com for $250, or new on ebay for around $270 shipped.

ETA: You might want to drop a line to Scott@LibertyOptics.com to see what he can do in your price range and magnification range. I'm not familiar with the Vortex line he carries, but a lot of people like them as value scopes, and he's got a good reputation here at calguns.

Thank you, Maxicon! $270 shipped is a great price on a 6-18, ours is ususally $299 shipped. The one ebay seller who sells at that price has also given ebay about $500,000 in fees in the last six years, which makes anti-gun ebay and Paypal that much stronger. That's just one seller! Multiply that by the size of the ebay community and that money flows to anti-gun candidates in your native California and on and on it goes.

I recently listed 3 ADM mounts on ebay and they cancelled all three listings because of the mention of "AR-15" in the ad. I replaced that offending word with "bleep bleep" and it's now good to go. The height of stupidity. Yet, the Cold Steel "AK-47" knife is everywhere.

Rant off, and yes, we use/have used ebay sparingly in the past, so we are hypocritical. However, we will be closing our account early next year and focusing on Gunbroker to do our business.

          Thanks,

          Scott

PS - you need to check out Vortex!!

Yep, there's a lot to be said for supporting the shooting community over the big faceless corporations, and figure the $30 difference is just the cost of a few boxes of ammo, which will be forgotten in no time. Add in the better support from community vendors, and it's worth the extra cost, IMO.

I'd like to give Vortex a try, but I've got more scopes than I can use, and have vowed not to buy any more until I get rid of some!
