Pulled my Howa 1500 from the gun sock today. I was messing around with the scope, I noticed the top elevation turrent spinning freely on its own. I realized the lock wasn't on, then I pulled the turrent up to feel positive clicks. My question is since the lock wasn't on now the value marks don't match where my reticle is. Is this a big concern??I just put it back on zero. I will add that the scope is a pos Nikko Sterling 4x16 that came with the rifle. That being said I think the zero is still good.

All scopes should be set to the desired zero based on where you want your rifle to shoot. Take it to the range with the knobs tightened so the click. Set up a target at 100 yards or wherever you want the zero. Turn the knobs until you are hitting exactly where your crosshairs or center of your reticle is, loosen the caps, spin them back to zero without clicking. Then, tighten them back down. Your scope is now zeroed.
You need to have an exact point of reference so you know how to adjust for other shots. -
Gotcha so that's done intentional so you can reset the value back to zero, well for your zero..interesting. I re tighten them and they are solid.Comment
