I'm looking at a Leupold mark 6 1-6 or a U.S. Optics SR-8c for my Bushmaster ACR and was looking for some input on which would be the better optic. It will be used for some hunting and some target shooting.

Help choosing between 2 scopes

Distances will probably be out to 4-500 and I'll be using it for small game, coyotes and pigs. Maybe a deer in the right situation. I'm also in the process of getting a 300 blackout barrel for the rifle as well so the optic will be used for both calibers.Comment

I own both scopes (SR8-s model) and would say that it comes down to turret preference. If you like exposed tactical turrets with zero stop, the Mark 6 is your best bet. If you prefer capped turrets, go with the SR8. The glass is a little better on the Mark 6 in my opinion but the SR8 is pretty good as well (just a little fish-eye).Comment

How do you like the SR8-s? If both of the descriptions of the SR8-s and 8-c correctly, it seemed as if the only difference was the 8-c had an illuminated dot in the middle of the reticle. I feel like the 8-c would be slightly faster on 1x because of this but I haven't tried them so I can only speculate. I've been debating between these two models (not trying to thread jack but maybe OP would find he prefers the less expensive 8-s to the 8-c if the lack of dot isn't a hinderance).I own both scopes (SR8-s model) and would say that it comes down to turret preference. I am not familiar with US Optics. One thing nice about Leupold is that they have been in business for a long time, and you can count on them being around for a long time.

In the United States a person's expertise on a subject is inversely proportional to their knowledge of the subject: The less they know about something, the more they become an expert on it.

The only difference is the "c" has a red dot on the SFP and the reticle on the FFP. The "s" is all FFP with the entire reticle illuminating. The "c" is daylight bright and the "s" washes out when it is bright out. I would not replace an Aimpoint with the SR8-c because the eyebox is pretty tight. The Mark 6 is not really much better in that regard but both scopes are a great compromise between magnification and decent CQB use.How do you like the SR8-s?
