LaRue Tactical AK-IronDot OR Aimpoint CompC3 on Saiga .308?

I finally got my Saiga .308 16", now I am looking for all the toys to put on it! I am looking for a cool looking, sturdy, reliable optic system that will hold zero on a .308. I have done a lot of research and have broken it down to two choices, but I would love some input from the CGN!

Option #1 would be the LaRue Tactical AK-IronDot (http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetac...ail.bok?no=134). You replace the rearsight with this lightweight mini red-dot sight. I think it looks sweet, but how sturdy do you think this is, especially on a .308?

Option #2 would be the Aimpoint CompC3 (http://www.aimpoint.com/hunting/prod...impoint_compc3) on the Veriforce Tactical AK47 Low Side Scope Mount (http://www.veriforcetactical.com/tac...cessories/628/). This would be more expensive, but also more sturdy and reliable. It would still look cool don't you think?

Thanks for the input, and I also welcome any other suggestions. Just remember I am looking for functionality and looks!

The AK-IronDot would get the nod from me. The side mount you show says you won't be able to use the iron sights with it attached. That's what kills it for me.

Yeah, with the AK-IronDot it says you can cowitness it with your sights. But do you think this thing is that sturdy? Will it hold zero? After all I don't have any experience with optics. Cowitnessing with the iron sights is just as an important factor as looks or function too. That means that the I can't get the Aimpoint CompC3 to cowitness with the iron sights?

Shotgun News recently did a BIG review on the IronDot. The author had nothing but good things to say about it. No gun mods, simple, quality, solid. Yea, it's pricey, but you get a quality product. I'm getting ready to put one on an NDS-3 Romy. I especially like the low profile. To co-witness the iron sight is a great additional feature.

            There are two other options:

            - Larue Tactical AK-Aimpoint Micro T-1

            Due in a few months.

Either that or do what everyone have been doing for years, an Ultimak rail with any Aimpoint (but the best would again be the T-1.) Having played with the few options out there, it is IMO the best setup available, I prefer it to the larue setup and I am a big time fanboy. As of today, the most effective setup I have seen is the Ultimak rail with a Micro T-1 backed up by a Krebs peep rear sight. You have something that will be bomb proof just like the AK should be.

Or you can go with a quick disconnect side rail mount w/ the aimpoint....

They say with the Ultimak, optics get pretty hot out there on the gas tube.
