Leupold Mark 8...... Finally

Took the plunge, figured my Cheytac rifle needed a better optic, and since it has such huge range, it really needed some great glass. Have some friends with connections which paid off since these things are so hard to actua.ly get a hold of.

The most obvious thing you notice is how big a scope it is, huge compared to a Mark 4 (that's a 4.5-14 next to it). Have a Spuhr mount for it, and will try and get it mounted up in the next day or so.

Nice! You chose the best mount in the industry. Hakan Spuhr is a genius! I have its little brother the mk6 3-18x and love it. Hoping to be able to change turrets and from the H58 to H59 in the future though.

So finally mounted and zeroed, although I'm gonna have to do it again on Sunday with a different picatinny rail (less built in MOA), but all I can say is it's amazing.

Started by just bore sighting g, pulled the bolt, looked down the pipe. First shot yielded about 8" low and 3" left of center. So just zoomed in and counted off mills, fired touched the left lower leg of the X, zoomed in further, counted the 1/10 mill hash marks, moved I believe it was .2 mills right and up, pulled the trigger, bullseye.

I have pretty much always used quality scopes, Leupold Mk 4 , Vortex Viper on the lower end (but still a great scope), and have been pleased, but this thing is different. It's like a black hole, it just sucks light in, everything looks better through this scope, everything is brighter, and clearer.

Going to re-zero at 200 on Sunday, and then hope to get out to some real distance very soon.
