    Trijicon HD sights suck! help!

Bought a MC Operator (old style with Pachmayr wraparounds)

Been to the range a few times and dry fire practice and to put it frankly, these sights suck. Almost no 'illumination'

I was thinking a " |__| " shape rear (over the current setup) vinyl or plastidip application in high contrast white and lime green over the front sight on the angled portion facing me. (either would peel off in the future if desired) would be significantly better.

I have trouble differentiating between the target and focusing the sight picture using the two eye method (probably due to corrected Lasik vision to 20/16)

    Thoughts?

    EDIT:
I do all my shooting in high light situations, and plan on getting a tac-light for the rail, so the sights aren't doing me any good for their intended purpose.
I'll post pictures when I do the modification.

I run TruGlo Tritium & Fiber Optic Night Sights on my Glock 27.

yes the front fiber shortens my sight radius but with yellow rears the front green pops.

      Plasti-Dipped

      Used a Spray can application.
For a tighter, more uniform finish I could use the bucket method with proper masking (would also make the Tridium inserts be brighter, not having to work through several layers of sprayed on layers.

Here's how my first attempt (which I'm sticking with for now... For range use purposes)

Have you had any opportunity to try TFO (Tritium Fiber Optic) sights?

Best of both worlds. TruGlo added a few styles for the 1911 fairly recenty.

Sounds like you need to take a pistol fundamentals class.

What are you expecting the sight to do?

Why do you say that? I'm left handed and very few 1911 setups fit my hands (mainly mag release, ambi safety, grip angle, slide release location and ease of use, slide rigidity)
and features, tool-less takedown, rail, shape and appearance.

The sights and tactical lights are able to be taken off etc.

Mushy plasti dip of an uneven nature on your sights is not the answer you're looking for.

Can you tell us about any formal instruction you have had with handguns?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

In bootcamp (around 7 years ago) was one of the first times I shot a handgun (Beretta M9). I picked it up and hit 3 magazines within the bullseye and the outer ring from about 10-15 yards. As a kid I didn't have the hand strength to rack a slide back on any of my Dad's.

Its fine. This setup works. I'm grouping much better now. (1-3 inches)

Night sights aren't what I intended to use on the gun, and don't really 'pop' in high light conditions. I'm saving for a tac-light so they'll be pretty much useless in a sense.

Did you have any initial suggestions for me?
