    Help me choose a scope

I want this scope to hunt under 350 yds. It'll sit on a 6.8 SPC AR rifle. My choices are:
    • Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36mm Duplex, Matte
    • Carl Zeiss CONQUEST 3-9X40 Z-PLEX MAT
    • Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44

These are each $400 most everywhere. Please don't tell me about your S&B and NF super awesome $3k scope - don't need that. Just looking at these three. Thanks for the help!

Leupold sounds about perfect, or maybe a 2-7 Leupold.

I would prefer a 2-7 but Leupold only makes that in the VX 1 or 2. Each of which I feel are much lesser than the other two for the money. The VX-R 2-7 is another step....for another $100

I use Nikon Monarch on my hunting rifle. I believe Nikon optics are best value for the money.

The leoupy 2-8 is a good solid scope

They balance well on the AR

Micro, I do like the Nikon Monarchs. Once I did a side by side in a sunny parking lot with the Vortex and Bushnell Elite...with the Monarch. Sales guy said..take them out there and look! The Bushnell fell out first. The Monarch was excellent for the price but for my eyes, the Vortex was the clear choice of those three. That's why I don't have that up there.

Other eyes may be different....your results may differ. That's the thing with optics. They're like a shotgun. If they don't fit YOU, doesn't matter that the next guy thinks it's golden.

Leupold and never need to look back
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Leupy vx3 and up are pretty nice. It's also smaller than the others. So it wins here.

                        All good choices.

I'd go with whatever one has the smallest amount of eye relief shift from low to high power

                          Vortex.

                          1. Warranty. Drop it on a rock, run it over with the truck, whatever, send it back and get a new one.
                          2. 44mm objective. While the Leupold may be lighter and smaller, at 36mm the objective isn't going to let in as much light in dusk/dawn conditions.
                          3. Wider zoom range. You never know when you might want the extra zoom.

Leupolds, are fantastic scopes so I don't think you'd be going wrong there, I just think your getting more bang for your buck with the Vortex.

                            I'm counting:

                            Leupold: 3
                            Vortex: 2
                            Ziess: 1

I like the rationales. Eviioiive, that's an interesting one. Waveslayer, ok, I counted both your votes.
