    Need Help! AHHHH!!!

    Hey guys,

I've been ripping my self apart on these scopes.

My ultimate goal is to shoot 1k yards. Which scope will be best in helping me achieve that?

Clarity is king right? So my budget allows me to get these, just dong know which one.

What would you guys choose and why? (Lets stick to those with actual experience, and not those who read about them)

Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 (Owned before, but sold in the past)
    Bushnell Elite Tactical 3.5-21x50
    Accupoint TR23 series 5-20x50

    Considerations:
    Burris XTR II 5-20x50
Night Force NXS (ONLY IF THERE IS A CLEAR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LISTED ABOVE)

Repeatability is king. Clearity doesnt matter if your scope is not reliable in its click values. Im a fan of medium powered fixed scopes but it depends a lot on what you want out of it.

10x is sufficient for torso hits at 1k and helps cut down some mirage when compared to high zoomers.

    USO for my money.

USO much expensive! Been trying to justify paying that much for one.

Is it really that much better than the ones listed above?

Yes, dependability is king of course =)

+1 for USO. You won't regret it. I have a couple of them. LR17 and MR10

I've used all of them to a degree except the Accupoint. There is a big difference between the Trijicon and Nightforce vs. the rest. They are second focal plane and the others are first focal plane. I'd decide on that feature before selection.

Clarity is not king... tracking is king.

Of the ones you mentioned, I'd go with the first two.

Yes, the most important part of a scope is that it must hold an absolute zero. If it cannot return to an absolute zero, it is useless, which is why you do not want Chinese or third world manufacturing. That said, pretty much all the scopes at the $1,000 price point will hold a zero and track okay. The glass won't be great, but it'll be plenty for 1000yards. Glass starts to be a big deal when shooting to very long ranges as you get burned when you cannot see what you are trying to hit. So, indeed, mechanics first, then glass. To get the best glass and mechanics, the price of scopes will skyrocket.

So back to my question. From the ones I listed, which is the best?

Best? Of the group, Nightforce IMHO.

Best value/return on your investment/bang for your buck? Vortex Razor.

I own a Viper PST, but my friend has the Razor, and I like it a bunch. Haven't had access to 1000 yards yet, but it has worked very well at 700 and 800.

Normally, if I can't make up my mind, I ask myself "which one would I want if it was free?"

The Razor is the best from your list. It's a $2k scope that is being or has been discontinued. I wouldn't find myself handicapped by it compared to my Schmidts and Nightforces except as JMP said, at extreme long ranges. 1k isn't extreme long range and I bet any of the scopes you listed would get you there.

If personally not get the accupoint purely because it's sfp, and doesn't work with my style of shooting. (I hold for wind)

                      Food for thought

Don't forget to get at minimum a 20MOA mount. Best of luck!

The Nightforce has served me well(and a friend) out to 1400 yards.

I like the Bushnell. I use it on my .308 and .300 Win mag. My buddy had one on his .300 and ran it out to 1 mile. The glass is clear and it holds zero for the price the Bushnell 3.5-21 is an awesome scope.

Agreed. I am a big NF fan regardless of focal plane (not sure why people get so caught up with that).
