    Slide mounted red dots

Looking into getting a red dot mounted on my XDM 5.25 9mm to use in the new USPSA optic production class (or what ever is called). I'm in between a Leaupold Deltapoint or a Trijicon RMR RM07. Been doing some research and there seems to be mixed reviews on them. My concerns are the red dot going out due to usage. Looking for user with first hand experience on how durable these red dots are on a slide mounts. The biggest attraction I have to the Leupold is that is seems to have the largest viewing area. I do matches twice a month. Also if there is another red dot to consider, let me know.

I have a Burris FastFire II on a Springfield 1911.

It has held zero very well, I had the same concerns, but the screws that lock down the adjustments do the job.

I contemplated the Leupold Deltapoint - I thought it was somewhat better than the FastFire, but not twice-the-price better than the FastFire II.

In the years since I purchased the FastFire II, Burris has addressed my only two complaints with the release of the FastFire III.

The FastFire II brightness was auto-adjust only, and I like my dot brighter than most folks. The FastFire III has preset brightnesses in addition to the auto adjust.

With the FastFire II, the optic had to be removed to change the battery, resulting in a minor rezeroing. The battery in the FastFire III can be changed without removing the optic.

It's not like you change a battery that often, but it's nice if you don't have to rezero.

It took me a LOT of time to get used to holding the Springfield in a different position than I use with the irons - felt very unnatural. It's all muscle memory though, just takes time and practice.

MR X, both the Deltapoint and RMR RM07 are great sight systems and 'should' hold up to the abuse, as is the FF III, though it has the smallest objective.
Unfortunately for your purpose, USPSA has seen it more important to help the top 3-4 gun manufacturers instead of the inventors by removing the best option to grow the sport and include people that want to install an RDS on their 'production' gun. checkout www.neumount.com

          I have 1,200 rounds shot with a g17 / RMR set up

The platform took me a lot longer to get use to shooting.
