    Acog TA11e blurry.

Just got my new acog. Not sure if it's defective or just me and it's supposed to be like this...

Looking through it I just see a red dot. When I aim at something far out I can see the chevron and elevation marks crystal clear but then it unfocuses again. Tried messing around with my eyes but a friends getting the same thing. I used the 5.56 version in the military and it was a solid clear chevron no matter what.

What's going on? Right now it seems like just an expensive red dot...

There could be something wrong with it. The ACOGs can be hard for some shooters do to the fact they do not have adjustable eye diopter. Shooter that have a stigmatism tend to have issues with them also. Have a few people look at.

If we can be of help let us know.

Thanks. It worked a lot easier out at 100m and beyond. I do have an astigmatism and had Lasik in one eye so maybe i'm having some focus issues. Either way i'm extremely happy with it now.

I would still recommend you getting an optics that has an adjustable diopter.

ACOG's have their parallax set at 100 yards and have no diopter adjustment. If you're scoping to something too close, you will either have to focus your eye on the chevron, or focus your eye on the wall.....at such close ranges, both will not be in focus.

Like Mike said, a scope with a diopter adjustment will definitely help with astigmatism, but my opinion is that you should also look at a scope with a parallax adjustment as well. This will focus the reticle with your target at any distance (usually) from 25 yards to infinity. However, this is typically more critical in highly magnified optics.

You'd want to point your scope at a white wall with no detail and relax your eye, then set the diopter to where it looks the most crisp/clear. Then scope out to a tree in the distance and set parallax as necessary. You shouldn't need to adjust the diopter more than once, assuming the adjustment ring stays in the same position. You'll always adjust the parallax depending on target distance so that the background is crisp with the reticle.

I have astigmatism too bro. Always focus on target and not the chev... it's hard to adjust sometimes with astigmatism even with glasses on.
