    TruGlo TFO = thumbs down

Bought these on 6/8/15. Had them professionally installed with a sight tool like the package says. Went home and they were awesome. They pop during the day and the tritium was bright:

Went to the range for the first time yesterday. Shot maybe 4 mags to see how the sight was on the target. Got home. Cleaned the gun, put in the safe and proceeded to carry the gun tonight and noticed that the front sight tritium was dead. [emoji35] so now I have a $75 pair of fiber optic sights. SMH:

TruGlo is best known for cheap Chinese optics. Really, it's more meant for airsoft, just like ALL the made in China stuff. For night sights, it's really a no brainer, you should get Trijicon. In relation, they aren't that much more expensive. It's actually quite amazing to me how pricey the knock-off stuff has gotten. For TruGlo, you used to pay $10 or $20 and not care if it worked or not, but $75 is really steep for the fake stuff. Just let it be a lesson and save up a little more and get something that you can rely on to work. This is true across the board of all optics companies. If you go with the brands that do Chinese manufacturing, don't expect it to work. Like I said, this is airsoft quality.

However, as long as people are willing to buy the cheap Chinese crap, the prices will keep going up and they will proliferate. This will probably (if it hasn't) bleed into increases prices of real gear. I see things like $100-$200 made in Chinese red dot sights, and it's pretty shocking that people buy that stuff when you can get something you know will work for a bit more, but apparently people can't resist a "deal". It always ends up costing more in the long run.

I'm not even gonna deal with sending my slide to TruGlo. They want $12.50 to do the work. That doesn't include my cost to ship, insure and wait time. I just went ahead and ordered me a new set of AmeriGlo I Dots orange front/u notch green rear. Like you said. Lesson learned.

TruGlo TFO's are not Chinese anything. They are manufactured in Texas, with lamps from Switzerland.

Ameriglo uses US bar stock and also incorporate swiss-made lamps.

Trijicon is assembled in Michigan, with "european" lamps - they were not "cleared to share" the country of manufacture for the lamps.

I've not received a call back from Meprolight concerning their materials.

TruGlo is blaming me but they also sent me a RMA but I don't want to send my slide to them. I went ahead and ordered some AmeriGlo I Dots from Optics Planet 4th of July sale [emoji1] best source for anything gun related. Check them out. [emoji12]

Is TruGlo the only game in town that makes fiber optic/tritium sights?
I bought a couple sets because Trijicon does not make this type of combo sights.
The TFO line seems designed not for heavy use. Both front light tube on my 9mm Glocks started backing out of the mount after a few hundred rounds. Sent one back for RMA and replaced it myself.
It seems they have a more durable/expensive design called TFX now.

I hated the ones I had. The plastic fiber optic insets would fall out and I was told to buy some glue....

Did you get any cleaning solution on the FO?

No I make sure to stay away from it when I cleaned my gun and all I use is CLP not solvent when cleaning. But I heard that would do it too.

TFO's are quite flimsy. Don't appear sturdy enough to rack one handed. Do not recommend for carry pistols.

I have TFO's on three of my Glocks, including my EDC. Been running them for years. No issues with any of them.

I've never had any problems with my TFO either. Its very strange that the tritium would just disappear like that and it sounded like they were ready to replace it for you...

My G2 Glock 22 has fiber optic sights that're probably past their second half life, I need to replace them with something better.

Yep, I had a set that failed and they tried to say it was my fault. A local reputable FFL near me had the same experience and won't carry their products any longer.

Blows me away that companies are so myopic. They screw customers over one sale and never see another penny from them.
On the other hand, companies that warranty products gain customers due to their customer service ethic.
