    Scope for ar-10

I am getting an Ar-10 with 24" fluted barrel. Want to know what would be the best scope for this rifle under $500 if it is possible.

Nikon 2.5-10 Monarch (they also make a 6-18X in that price range)
    Supersniper 10X
There are a few Bushnell Elites out there, never used one though
You could probably find a Leupold VX III used on Ebay for that price

Might help if you posed up what exactly you are looking for in a scope

I'm currently running a Leapers 3-12x44 Accushot scope on my AR-10. I intended to use it until something better came along, but It's worked well enough that I decided just to keep it on there. It's no Nightforce, but it get's the job done even at 1000 yards.

If I were going to upgrade to something else, I'd probably go with Falcon Optics as they are the cheapest scopes I've found with MP20 reticles (Similar to Mil Dot, but with extra stadia lines to allow for holdovers at long range)

Nikon Buckmaster and Bushnell Elite 3200 10X mil dot are good choices too.

I think the Falcon's are made in China, or at least the parts are. They are okay, but for the price you can find better from other manufacturers.

I wish I could find .223, .308 and .300 win calibrated turrets for my Nikon Monarch and be done with it.

Did you have to trim that Magpul so that it would not interfere with the seating of the mag in the magwell?

Just shooting targets, up to 600yds. Want to be able to switch it between AR and Tikka T3(.223)

Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14 mildot is a good buy and excellent scope. They make a 6-18 in that same price range with about the same features.

Are leupolds overpriced for the same thing I can get on a nikon buckmaster?

Depends on the features you want. Leupold has a name and a following...and scopes that break...often. Good thing they have great customer service.

I find finger adjustable, "zeroable" turrets and mildot reticle (or equiv) to be essential. Just depends on what you want.

Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 or leupold vxIII 6.5-20x40. I am very new to this scope thing so bear with me. I am trying to understand the difference between all the different scopes. Thanks

Both of those are fine scopes.

Do you think I should one of these or save my money to get a leupold mark 4 lr/t 8.5-25x50? A friend had recommended that one
