    Vortex Strikefire Gen I

I know the Gen II just came out not too long ago and is supposed to be quite an improvement from the Gen I. However, Tiger Outfitters has the Gen I @ 95.99 right now so I am thinking about picking it up.

My question is: does anyone have any experience with the Gen I and/or Vortex's warranty program? I have heard they have an unlimited lifetime warranty on all optics. Also, it seems that they do not have anymore Gen I Strikefires on their website.

My thoughts are this: buy the Gen I and if I don't like it, return it to Vortex for the warranty claim and they will have no choice but to upgrade me to the Gen II. In that respect, I just got a Gen II Strikefire for about $100, No?

If you don't like the gen1 what makes you think you'll like the gen2?

Warranty claims are for defective units - not preference issues.

I have two gen 1's and one gen 2 and I like them both. The biggest difference I have found are the buttons and how to turn the unit off and on.
I would recommend either for a good quality cost effective red dot.

LOL, you think you would get away with this? Bet Vortex could dig a GEN 1 out of a warehouse somewhere for quite a while. My company still has a stash of 15 year old hardware because some companies just refuse to upgrade to a new system. I hope you get what you deserve.

I have two and love them. One had a problem with the switch not able to dim the brightness of the dot. Sent it in and took about a week to get a brand new one sent to me.

(By the way, the replacement was also a Gen 1 and this happened 5 months ago.)

Thanks for the advice, for the few people who offered advice.. For the others, I spoke with Vortex today and with the VIP Unconditional Lifetime warranty, I don't need a reason to send the Gen I to them for a warranty claim. They will switch it out if I am unhappy for whatever reason.

Confirmed this on their 3point5.com account as well. All you have to do is ask.
