    shotgun scope

looking for a scope to shoot slugs for deer season in Cali. need it for a Beretta extrema.

thought about 30mm tube with illuminated bdc reticle. but don't know what power. not going to shoot past 150 yards.

nothing too crazy on price. trying to keep it light weight and low buck - under $ 300. maybe switch to a 1" tube if you know better or that's what works for you ?

anybody use a burris droptine ? or compare it side by side to a Nikon of similar power ?

I like 1-4X and no more than 2-7X on shotguns. No real need for 30mm tube since that is mainly to allow more adjustment range for windage and elevation, so stick with a 1" tube. At typical shotgun deer distances, a BDC reticle may not be very helpful, so that should not be a deal breaker. Get a scope with a good visible reticle and one that will work in the area you hunt (for example a German #4 reticle can work very well in heavy wooded areas). Here are a couple scopes to consider: http://www.opticsplanet.com/leupold-...iflescope.html, http://www.opticsplanet.com/leupold-...fle-scope.html, http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-ri...ff-2-7x32.html
