    Help

    Hey ya'll

I'm hoping you can help me out.

I am trying to decide on a scope for my Ar-10.
Ideally this will be my long range rifle.
-Hopefully out to Sac Valley and the 1000 yd range
    -really more like 300-500 yds
    -FFP
-I want turrets to match the reticle
-budget of $2000 for scope and mount

I was looking at the Leupold Mk4 LR/T 4.5-14x50 with the TMR

Anything else I should look at?

Burris XTR II in either 2-10X42 or 3-15X50 coupled with an ADM Recon 20 moa mount.

This is an excellent deal in your price range that exactly meets your stated feature preference. It will easily accomplish anything an AR-10 can do, and it's the best glass quality for the dollar, IMO. The Swarovski glass is very vibrant and brings out the colors very nicely. The reticle is similar to the TMR if that is what you like.

You may have apprehension of having 6x as the lowest power on an AR, but if you look at the field of view, the 6x on the K624 is actually larger than some of the lower magnification scopes (including the MK4 4.5-14). It's the field of view that counts when it comes to lower magnification. Many get caught up on the zoom multiples rather than understanding the importance of of the field of view for low magnification. Hence, this scope effectively has a lower zoom than the MK4.

You just tend to get a whole lot more from a full-sized scope (the standard is 34mm tube and 56mm objective). The only issue would be the weight for an AR. But, it is fairly light for a full-sized scope of decent construction, coming in under 2lbs.
