Vortex Razor HD 65mm vs 85mm Spotting scope

I have decided to go with a Vortex spotting scope for range use and maybe for occasional wildlife viewing and possibly some digiscoping. I was set on the 65mm but I keep reading about the 85mm and how satisfied people are with the 85mm. Is the 85mm worth about a $250 price difference over the 65mm? I have an older Bushnell Excursion tactical 15-45 spotting scope that has served me pretty well over the years but I am ready to step up to a little better optical quality.

    Thought?

I just checked amazon and cabelas and its a $400 difference. if you can find it for $250 more i would do it. more zoom and more light.

Yes, it is around $250 for me but I think the 65mm is a better overall scope for me. I found some good reviews on the 65mm and all the reviews say that it is very veratile scope.

I personally have the 11-33x50. I wanted good glass but size and weight was big for me. But it sounds like you already made up your mind.

Yeah, unless someone can talk me into the 85mm.

65.7 ounces vs 48.4 ounces. Not insurmountable, but I like light.

You'll be happy with either, I love my Vortex stuff.

Would you go 85 if you were in my shoes? What kind of tripod would you recommend? I thought I was sold on the 65 but the 85 gives some extra power and more light.

Vortex Razor HD 65mm vs 85mm Spotting scope

For smaller size I'd get a compact 60. Easily placed in a big back pack. For high power definitely get the larger objective. Different purpose.

If you're local I'll demo the razor 85mm for you
