I have a 6" 686-6 that i would like to mount a scope to. I've been browsing the pistol scopes on midwayusa and have narrowed it down to a fixed power scope. It's going to be a target/plinking gun. I'm not to knowledgable on what range the 686 is capable of but I'm thinking 50 yards most of the time and maybe as far as 100. My question is what power I should go with? I see 2.5 and 4. And what is a good brand that will hold zero with 357 and 44 magnum loads in the future?

Are you going to off hand or bench rest it? If off hand, then you are better off with the lower power. Remember, every movement of your hand is magnified by the scope. While we all think we are holding steady, you'll be surprised how much your hold wanders after using a scope. If you're going to bag rest it then higher powers are fine. If not, then I would stay around 2-2.5 X HTH c good
