Stack-On SPAD-100 Wireless Rechargeable Dehumidifier for Stack-On Long-Gun Safes

Didn't want to run a cable to have an electric one. This works great. Don't get too much humidity where I live, but for some reason I do where I keep the safe, go figure. Just plug into a wall, it dries out and ready to absorb moisture again!

Anyone else use something like this? Currently just using 1 in my 22 gun safe.

Yup, I have one that is very similar and I like it. Only have to recharge it every 4 - 5 months since I have low humidity. I honestly don't even need it but it was cheap peace of mind.

I have one. There are a few of those that r the same but rebranded. Only downfall is when you have to take it out to recharge (dry it out) overnight.

I believe EvaDry is the original brand and they licensed it out to numerous companies. I have high humidity because I live in a old my bedroom is adjacent to a bathroom with less than adequate ventilation. I have to 'recharge' mines every two weeks. I got lazy, then brought a golden rod and use them in conjunction to each other.

I have an Eva-dry in my safe which is next to the bathroom with a good exhaust fan, but still. I recharge every 2-3 weeks. Thinking about putting in an outlet for a golden rod.

The Stack-On specs don't say how much silica gel desiccant it contains, but from the size of the unit, it can't be very much. Probably no more than 50g. So it's not going to offer very much protection.

I bought this instead and it works great:

It's a dollar cheaper, but has MUCH MORE absorption capacity than the Stack-On device. It has so much desiccant that I don't have to recharge it for months.

Recharging is simple: pour the contents out onto a foil-lined baking tray (or into a disposable foil baking pan), pop it in a hot oven, and wait until the color changes from green back to orange. Take out of the oven, let cool, pour back into its perforated can, and place back in the safe.

If you have to recharge it weekly, then it is obviously far-too undersized for your conditions. What if you were away from your home for an extended time (e.g., vacation, hospitalized, etc.)?

I can go 6-8 weeks before needing to recharge.
