DPMS .308 building question

I am in the process of building my first .308 and I could use some help. Most importantly I could use some guidance. First off yes, I am building a DPMS .308 and not an AR-10.
I have the lower completed using an 80% .308 lower. Once I have completed this gun it will be for distance. I plan to go with a 20-24 inch barrel. I would like it to be as light as I can make it but for looks I would like to go with a TROY VTAC Alpha Rail or something that will closely match. Because of the looks I would like the upper and the hand guard to match as perfectly as they can in height.
From this posting I would like to get some advice on specific barrel to use. Like I said I would like to go 20-24 but I would like to find the lightest one that I can. I would also like to hear from anyone as to which upper to use. DPMS panther arms has a flattop upper for a great price but it looks like the shipping will take sometime and I have never ordered from them before so I am interested if anyone has and what the experience has been? Then Midway has an upper that is said to be in stock but the word has been that shipping sucks from them and that the upper will probably come pretty screwed up. Then finally if you have a suggestion on the specific rail to use I would appreciate it.

Storm, just in reference to Midway and their shipping, they are a soid company and I have not had any issues with parts received from them. I would not hesitate to order from them. As for the .308 build, check out 308ar.com. Good luck and post pics when you finish

I am in the same boat, would like to get an assembled complete upper (DPMS 308), that I could use for precision shooting, sub MOA around 24"barrel, any suggestions?

Thank you very much. I guess while building my ARs I've never purchased anything but mags and ammo online. But thank you for your feedback on midway. I will most likely end up getting the upper from them to start and yes I will be sure to put up future pictures.

Midway shipping has been good if item is in stock, you get a shipping notice with tracking number.
Realistically a 308 is gonna be heavy, especially with a 24" barrel.
