    AMSEC 6040 Value?

I have an American Security Products Model 6040
60HX40W not sure of the depth haven't checked I'm guessing 22 to 24
It's not firelined the safe is probably about 12 years old in excellent condition
Has a grey multi or combo interior
No Longer have a need for a second safe Whats it value? Thanks Bob

    6040 60" H x 40" W x 26"D, 1,090 Lbs

You can get a new one for around 2,500.

So my guess would be in the neighborhood of 1k give or take a couple hundred.

          safe

You can buy a LP 6030 Amsec for just under $1K and it is firelined. So although yours is a little larger I dont feel you could expect to get much more than 500-600. If yours has a fancy paint job and is super clean perhaps a little more. The under 1500 buck safe market is saturated with Chinese imports that are firelined. Since you stated it isnt firelined then the specs and 2500 price quoted in the first response dont apply as that is for the BF series.

            500-600?????

I'd keep it before I would even consider selling it for 500 or 600
and although I don't need them I would buy any 40" safe I could find for that price Thanks for your input I think your way off base

                safe

Unfortunately Amsec,Cannon and others import their low end safes from China to keep the current prices down and the profits up. Look at it this way...if you could find your receipt you probably paid around 600 bucks when you bought it a dozen years ago. If you can sell it for 600 you got 12 years of use out of it and got your money back. People looking to spend a grand or so ...even less are able to get Amsecs and Cannons with firelining in very close to your size safe. Check deansafe.com and look at what these low end safes sell for to get an idea what you are competing against. I have an older Cannon that isnt firelined that has been sitting empty for a few years so I am in the same boat as you.

                  safes

I don't think either of those companies import their safes from China. I know some of the Cannons like the ones sold at Costco are made in Mexico. I bought a 30" Cannon when they were still in Montebello(i think ) on my ffl 15 years ago and it was about 700 dealer price then. I had Dean move another safe earlier this week for me. I'll give Bo a call and ask about the value of my safe.I sure I paid a least a grand for it when I bought it. If your looking to sell your Cannon cheap, I have a friend who is a dealer that can use another safe. If I were going to buy a new safe I think it would a Sturdy Safe
