Gun safe question

So gentleman... I finally got my safe... can anyone give me some helpful tips? Do they need any maintenance? Should I use a dehumidifier? Ect.

If it came with a bolt down kit, and you can, bolt it down. You can buy an electric heater or desiccant packs for humidity.

Register your safe with the maker if it is new. If it comes with a key, put it in a safe place. Don't store any gun in a case with foam inside, they will rust.

Bolt it to the floor as the thing could be dangerous in an earthquake.

You definitely need to address humidity. Goldenrods work great (requires electric power, but you may have that for lights anyway), or you could go with a desiccant type device, or combine the two.

And consider how you will remember the combination. Maybe give it to someone you trust.

Bolt it to the floor as the thing could be dangerous in an earthquake.

You bolt it down to make it harder to knock on its back so thieves don't get the leverage they need to pry the door open quickly, and to prevent it being wheeled off (easier to do than most believe).

I've only seen one safe manufacturer require that, and they do it to keep you paying. Scheduled maintenance is not required, just lube the bolts if it gets hard to turn the handle.

You must bolt it down to get the warranty if someone breaks in to it.
