A used Pelican. What size are you looking for? They are not that pricey.

      used cases??

did not belive people would sell them away.

need a number for storage, long guns up to a good 50 inches.
might do a partial dissambly to fit.(remove stock)

need to get out the tape and find out the right sizes needed.

SKB cases have been pretty good, less on cost.

Small Pelicans aren't too expensive but you'll need a number of them for each pistol. Turner's is having a sale for their double rifle Pelican case for around $150.

Don't think the ones similar to Pelican are any cheaper. You could try finding a Guardforce for the rifles or look for those Remington aluminum rifle case on ebay.

looks like i will have to spend very big bucks just to protect my long guns, as i have a good thirty - fourty rifles to protect.

need to place them in storage for a time. just need a good way to keep them safe from the elements. yes in side of a storage locker can kill a gun just as fast as leaving it out side.

With such a large # of rifles, I'd be looking at large safes with dry rods instead of rifle cases.

Putting them in cases just makes it easier to get carried away if they are for long term storage.

the case route is because i need to put the collection in a safe place for a time (might be 1 or 2 years), and just want to keep them dry and clean.

storage area will not have any juice to power anything. and yes all will be packed behind multiple locks.
and inside multiple steel contaners. (not shipping)..
                .maybe.

is my rule so if one tried to get to them, it will take lots of time and effort.

Sounds like you need RIG and plastic sheeting

My recommendation - Put them in the silicone treated soft sleeves, and then into a safe. As long as the temperatures don't get extreme in either direction, they'll be fine. Just clean them and wipe down with a light coating of oil.
For actual transport, it's hard to beat the Pelican cases. Check out eBay. If you won't need to check them in the airlines, then a Storm case is very similar to Pelican at a lower cost. Cheaper Than Dirt carries them. Still not inexpensive, but also a great travel case. If you don't have a safe, then you should consider renting a secure storage box. A local company has confidential security boxes (imagine a safe deposit box in all sizes) If you need a large number of secure cases, you've definitely reached the price amount of a good size safe. And the cases will take up a LOT of room.

But for storage in a safe, the sleeves should be fine. I recently took out some guns that have been untouched for over a decade. They look great. A buddy put some of his nicer guns in a case with the foam lining and then into his safe. When he inspected them shortly after, the foam had left little markings on the blueing. Something about holding the moisture against the metal. He would have been devastated had he not checked them after a couple weeks and they had rusted. I'm not sure of the what your storage needs are, but even if you put them in a case you might consider the sleeves as well.
                    Hope this helps.

got safes, got sleeves, just trying to add a couple extra layers of 'support. and no i will not be able to control the temp or humidity.
thuse the reason for "sealed contaners", might look into the good old pvc pipe thing. lower cost than pelican, and works great.

Gun Guard and Dosokcil are pretty good for the money. Water tight and dust proof.
