Best Long Gun Safe Under 17" Wide and Deep

A little strange but I'm looking for a long gun safe for my apt. that is under 17"W x 17"D

So far the only thing I've seen that would probably work are a few Stack-On safes. Is there anything else on the market, I haven't got a lot of money to spend but I'm not willing to cheap out especially living in an apartment.

I will try and secure it to a wall, but won't be able to secure it to the floor if that makes any difference.

    Thanks for the help.
    Ruger 10/22 (22cal)
    Sig SP2022 (9mm)
    Beretta 92 (9mm)
    Steyr M9-A1 (9mm)
    M1a Scout (308cal)

Dear Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms,
    Thanks for the idea!

The Stack-on gun cabinets are OK. I prefer the Homak ones because they use 2 locks on the door.

Keep in mind that most wall studs are 16" on center so you will probably only be able to secure it to just 1 stud. Not too big of a deal if the safe cannot be wrenched free by moving it side-to-side. If you can place it in a corner, you may be able to lag it into a corner stud. Also, see if you can locate the fire-block and lag into that. They alternate 1 high, 1 low generally 2 feet from floor or ceiling. Use a good stud finder and test drill to seek wood.

If none of these apply, then use 7/16s toggle anchors. About 6-8 should unify the safe to the wall.

depending on what your specific needs are, you could find an in-the-wall safe

Sports Authority has a 10 gun Stack-On Safe (not Cabinet) with manual combination dial and 3 bolt lock that is approx 16x16x55 or something like that for $299.99. Model # SS-10-MG-C

Add a filler item like a cliff bar for 1.50 to push the pre-tax total to $301.49 to use the $100 off $300 coupon that they are advertising now.

Total cost would be $201.49+tax. Much better option than the cabinet they offer.

        Good Luck!

Where do you see that $100 off $300.

I don't see any adds for Sports authority down here in LA

If you're willing to spend the money, call someone local and ask about a custom size. Sun Welding should be close to you or you could try http://www.sturdysafe.com/customsizes.htm

There's also this option, but I don't remember it being so expensive:

Too small but these are nice. It can store more than 1 long arm if you use rifle rods, and dont have optics on everything:
