Blade Tech Holsters

I'm hoping to get some advice regarding holsters. I put my order in with custom kydex holster makers, "Extreme Concealment", since early March and it still hasn't seem to go into production yet. I kind of regret cancelling my order with J.M. Custom a few months back since I would have had it already.

I own a less popular handgun so it's been hard for me to find a good quality manufacturer that makes one for this particular model. I am contemplating just ordering a blade tech owb so I can finally start participating in defensive classes. Would that be a good choice or one I would regret?

I have heard many googd things about Blade-Tech. But be aware, they have a backorder on almost everything. I ordred a belt from them at the beginning of March, and it just arrived at the beginning of June.
Since you already are looking at Kydex, check out www.blackdogconcealment.com. I ordered an OWB holster and it shipped within a week. Their prices are very reasonable also.

Black Dog doesn't have a holster for my make =/ Jeez, I didn't know Blade-Tech had back order on their stuff too. I'll have to send them an e-mail. Seems like I can't avoid a long wait.

Take a look at Safariland holsters. I use a 568 paddle/belt holster with a 572 double magazine paddle holster. You have to give us the make and model of the firearm for us to give you an opinion or suggestion though to be honest.

What handgun do you have? I picked up one from Blade-Tech and I like it a lot. Just keep in mind that they have a long lead time (8 weeks last I heard).

I looked at Safariland a long time ago & I think they had a holster type that I wasn't interested in at the time. I own a FN Herstal FNP-9.

It's not backorder. It's lead time. Blade-Tech doesn't keep a large stock on hand, so they make most orders when they come in (or let them accumulate so that they can make several holsters for the same gun at once). Generally, you expect to wait about 6 weeks for a Blade-Tech kydex holster.

Blade-Tech's are excellent, and their back plate is modular, so you can change it out for different technologies (Stingray, Tek-Lok, drop-and-offset). But this modularity also has a cost because it becomes the structural weak point for the holster. If you are going use the holster in extreme conditions (i.e. combat), you might look at Comp-Tac. Their holsters' belt loops are made from the same piece of kydex as the holster body. Therefore it's stronger.

But for basic defensive pistol classes or competition, this is not really a serious issue. I've been running a Blade-Tech Stingray for IDPA and USPSA for eight years without a single problem. Love that holster!

Would you guys cancel your current 3 month long wait custom holster for the Blade Tech? I was kind of hoping Blade-Tech had a bunch sitting in the warehouse since I see them at Turner's often.

Im having a similar experience with my blade-tech holster, however I have not been waiting as long as you have. I talked to customer service at first to figure out what the deal was since I didnt read any disclaimers that there would be such a long lead time. Customer service rep told me to expect a 5-6 week lead time which I was not too happy to hear. I did not cancel my order because as far as i know blade tech has the highest quality holster for my setup which is a glock/surefire light combo. However each day that passes I grow more restless thinking that these people have had my 126 dollars for a month and I dont have anything to show for it. Nobody can tell you exactly what you should do because it is all personal preferenfce and opinion, but I will be cancelling my order upon the six week mark coming up very soon when there is still no order updates. Im looking into safariland as well.

I only order stuff directly from Bladetech when i need something custom made or rare.
