    Gun safes that hold guns?

why is it that most safes only have a small section for long guns? I am looking for a decent safe and I keep finding safes that have a small section to one side for long guns and all of these shelves around and above. As of now I only own 7 long guns but down the road I will probably get a few handguns - so I dont need all of those shelves. I am also ready to start buying more guns with my C&R so I need a place to put them.
right now I have them crammed in the crappy "14" gun $89 tin can safe and it is time to get a new one
ive looked at alot of the safes in this section and they all tend to be the same.
    got any ideas?

Go to the maufactures websites~ many have multiple configurations with and without shelves....there's about a 1,000 different ways these things can be set up...............

Most of those you see with shelves on one side and longguns on the other side really have removable shelves.
Try and find a place to look at them in person, and learn what the differences in fire protection and weight are.

I have one of the more expensive Sentry 14-guns safes, and I have alot more than 14 long guns in it, so they are good for more than the manufacturer says.

Im aware that you can customize the safe to some extent - but most have different configurations of shelves with the long gun section still pretty cramped.
I will look up those safari safes - I havent heard of them but they are right here in socal. I looked at their website a little and it seems that they have a config that holds quite a few long guns. has anyone ever bought a safari safe? I am not the safe guru by any means but I havent heard of them in my searches...

Looks like my Browning Medallion. The right pic is the same as the left, they come with a spare rifle insert, so you could remove the shelves and pop in the grooved insert to hold more rifles.

                I like it alot.

My friend has that Safari Safe that is in the link. The shelves do come out on the other side so there is rifle section on both sides. I think he picked it up for about $750 OTD. The outside finish is a flat color. The outside is not as pretty as others but it fits great in closets if you don't like the looks. I believe Safari is associated with Cannon Safes but I could be wrong.

                    Check out www.visaliasafes.com

Saw them at a show up in Reno, definitely what I will be getting soon. Expensive, but worth it if their fire protection claims are accurate.
