Looking at this safe on the bay

wondering how to tell if This is good enough for
future purchases to not need a locking device?

Looks ok but what if the lock fails, your screwed and would have to take a cut off saw to get it open. but for the money it could be ok.

      I will vote for a donkey-sex maniac if he's pro-gun.

Unless it's a California Approved Safe/Cabinet (which I really don't think it is) or meets the specs Charliegone posted above, you'll still need a lock to pickup any new guns. If you're looking for cheap and just to meet the requirement set by the state, grab one of the Stack-On safes. If you want something nice, spend some extra cash and get a good one you'll never need to replace.

If it's anything like mine, you can lift that keypad off to reveal a standard keyhole for backup. It's also how you get access to change the batteries.
